Chair of Ethics

Chair of Ethics has wide multidisciplinary research experience. It offers teaching and supervision in the following research areas: 1. Philosophical, biomedical (incl. art therapy), professional, services’  and organizational ethics. 2 Philosophy of law & normative approaches to public spheres (democratic legitimisation of the European Union and the problem of its democratic deficit, theory of European law and European self–constitutionalisation; doctrine of division of powers within the European framework, European economic constitutionalisation and the problem of justice in the EU, emergence of transnational public spheres in the EU, question of the European Public Reason, democratic legitimisation of judicial rulings’ influence on the system of law-making, theory of discourse applied to the democratic society, transformation of communicative power into administrative power. 3. Approaching and fostering moral-discursive competencies for individuals, relationships, democratic institutions, and professions (inc; moral competence, Konstanz Method of Dilemma Discussion, postconventional morality; Moralität vs. Sittlichkeit, ethical and philosophical education. 4. Ancient philosophy (Parmenides, Plato, Desert Fathers). 5. Phenomenology (Husserl, Stein) & new phenomenology, philosophy of art (esp. outsider art) and resilience studies. 6. Peace, hospitality, and cosmopolitanism studies. 7. Corporeality, intercorporeality, embodied selfhood & technological contexts. 8. AOS: empirically informed philosophy of action (intentions, planning, automaticity of behaviour, practical rationality, effectiveness of human action, shared agency, interface between cognitive psychology and organisation science); 9. AOC: metaethics, naturalism, practical philosophy of Aristotle, Hume, and Kant, contemporary virtue ethics.
